ePS goes live at the University of Edinburgh
Scotland's largest higher education institution went live with eProcurement Scotl@nd (ePS) on 19 September 2008. The first phase of the roll-out included over 120 users from 10 schools and administrative departments and 23 contracted suppliers.
Nigel Paul, Director of Corporate Services, thanked those involved:
"Well done to everyone involved and congratulations on getting the first orders through the system. Particularly for all the work and effort that has gone into getting us here - not only University of Edinburgh staff but also APUC, Capgemini, COA Solutions and Elcom and many more. It is much appreciated."
The project integrated PECOS with the University's MyEd staff portal for user authentication and single-sign on. Further integration with the University's finance system, COA eFinancials, for user data, financial codes, purchase orders and goods receipts ensures that data is always consistent across the systems.
Craig Henderson, Assistant Director of eProcurement efficiency was delighted by the response from users and key suppliers, whose enthusiasm and willingness to get involved was key to the success of the project.
Karen Bowman, Director of Procurement welcomed this addition to the University's existing eProcurement tools SciQuest SelectSite for labs and InTend for eTenders, as ePS will give rapid access for staff to order, when the University joins new framework contracts, provided by APUC or Procurement Scotland.
