Glasgow City Councils fast track implementation of ePS is a catalyst for substantial change in its procurement processes and was honoured in the Effective IT Awards 2006. The project demonstrates how technology provides indisputable business value to the work of the Council. The Procurement Programme was 1 of 3 finalists, chosen from over 400 submissions in its category of 'Most Effective Use of Software and received the accolade of 'Highly Commended'.
There is no doubt that Glasgow City's innovative use of ePS and its integration with SAP has already reaped substantial business benefits and savings. To date the programme has redirected £2.8 m into the Councils priority areas and is set to grow as the programme moves to phase two implementation. Over the next six months the service will be rolled out to Culture and Leisure Services, Environmental Protection Services and Social Work Services (Non Care) .The Council will also take forward the adoption of more suppliers to add to the 127 already on the system.
