Scotlands Largest Local Authority 'Go Live' with ePS

Scotland's largest local authority, Glasgow City Council, today went 'live' with the eProcurement Scotland Service (ePS).

Direct and Care Services, Catering Manager, Janet Ralston, placed the first 'e-order' with supplier Robert Wiseman this morning. Across 5 departments, 127 suppliers and 450 users are connected to the system and today raised over 200 purchase orders of 900 items, totalling in excess of £45,000.

Throughout 2006 Glasgow City Council plan to roll-out ePS across the remaining departments doubling the current number of users to 900 within the next three months and over 5000 within the next three years.

John Sherry, Procurement Programme Director, Glasgow City Council said

" Glasgow City Council is delighted to have worked in partnership with the Scottish Executive to achieve a successful and on schedule phase 1 implementation of the ePS programme. The council is confident that the ePS initiative will bring mutual advantages to the council, suppliers and the national programme. Early feedback from suppliers and end users has been extremely positive and the programme team looks forward to implementing the next phase."
