ABC Procurement Conference and Exhibition 13th September 2006

Procurement has been recognised by the Scottish Executive as one of the main platforms for making savings in the public sector. Better, more efficient procurement has the potential to release £millions of funding, to be redirected into front-line services. But delivering such savings will require major changes in culture, structures and systems across the public sector in Scotland.

The Authorities Buying Consortium ( abc), with ten years' experience in managing a collaborative approach to procurement, has contributed in excess of £30 million of contract savings to councils, and the potential exists to increase this through wider collaboration and extensions to the contract portfolio.

This Conference will raise some of the issues around the requirement for change and provide delegates with some thought-provoking views on the need for, and management of, change in procurement in the public sector. Delegates should end the Conference with a deeper appreciation of the current issues facing procurement staff in Scotland today.

WHY ATTEND?
As well as presentations from a range of seasoned procurement professionals, there will be the opportunity to attend a range of seminars covering current topics and a chance to network with fellow delegates, speakers and exhibitors to discuss the views and implications of the challenges ahead.
